My least favorite troupes in all of manhwa, lets go dive into this hellhole together
It pisses me off, and I mean, PISSES ME OFF, when the manhwa FL is shallow and loved solely because she’s the FL. Like, I mean, take Navier from Remarried Empress. She’s annoying, everyone loves her, and she’s called super smart and charming even though she really isn’t.Stepsiblings. Its not always the worst or whatever, not really incest, but it does have those undertones. but I still would prefer they aren’t stepsiblings. If she refers to him as her brother at any point then its weird. (Note: it’s different if the FL is like Aria from The Siren: Becoming the villains’ family, or something like that, because she may be treated as a daughter, but shes not treated as a sibling.) DONT BE ATTRACTED TO SOMEONE WHO IS YOUR STRAIGHT UP STEPSIBLING. (IM LOOKING AT YOU DERRICK)Slavery: When done it a certain way.. it can be… okay… but I really don’t like it at all. I don’t think its right, and I would prefer a servant-master, rather than slave-master. I especially don’t like it when it’s portrayed as morally alright. I feel like its an insult to everyone who has suffered through slavery. When slavery is portrayed as something that is “alright” it really annoys me. I’m not saying that I hate every manhwa with some sort of “slavery” troupe, my favorite manhwa is Villains are Destined to Die, I mean I hate it when the slavery is glossed over and ignored, like it’s chill, mainly when it comes to them getting actual “slave” treatment.Cheating: DONT NORMALIZE CHEATING!!!! CHEATING IS NOT GOOD -_- The “I didn’t know you were actually my child so sorry” or the “i tdidnt know you were my childhood love, so like, sorry I was awful to you.”, being a reason why they stop treating the main character like a pos. A good example of this is “Wish You Were Dead” Its peak besides the ml being a complete @&#%. He treats the FL like shes trash just because he can, before realizing shes his childhood true love or whatever.The ml’s who are forgiven for being cheaters. Similar to the cheater one, DONT FORGIVE THE MALE LEAD FOR CHEATING. Its SIMPLE.Yandere who is non-consesual: Yandere’s who do NOT respect consent. THATS NOT OBSESSIVE BEHAVIOR THATS JUST PIG BEHAVIOR. (This also goes for non-yanderes)When a main character ends up with their abuser. What I mean is, I know breaking up with an abuser is hard, and I also know that some yanderes are very toxic, but what I mean here, is that they return to the abuser, forgive the abuser, and the conclusion is that they stay with them. In real life I wouldn’t be so judgemental, ofc, situations are hard, but… THIS IS FANTASY ARE YOU SURE STAY WITH YOUR ABUSER IS A THEME YOU WANT TO SPREAD!???The three that trigger me most:
The “forgive my killer BS” yeah like, “They killed me in my past life but they’re nice to me now so who cares :3” And by that I mean regression manhwa, not villainess manhwa, because that’s not technically the main character’s murderer. When a character is killed in the plot or condemed when that is clearly not a proportional response. Like Ratasha from remarried empress, sure, she was a jerk, but.. SHE WAS A SLAVE WHO WAS SA’D AND THEN EXECUTED BECAUSE SHE LIED ABOUT WHO THE BABIES’ FATHER WAS CAUSE SHE DIDNT WANT TO SAY SHE WAS SA’D. I’m sure greed did play a part, but like, COME ON. She didn’t deserve to be BEHEADED. That’s just messed up on a whole other level.When the literal child is the ml. Like the FL literally adopts him and he IS HER LOVE INTREST!?? IM SORRY WHAT!??? No, no, no. You can have age gaps sure, BUT IF THEY HAVE AN AGE GAP MAKE SURE THEY DONT MEET WHEN ONE IS A MINOR AND THE OTHER ISNT. ESPECIALLY IF THEY FREAKING RAISED THEM!!!
