More diversity in manhwa?

I mean, I love manhwa, but I cant help but notice the majority of manhwa characters are white, there are obviously exceptions, usually ones with a “exotic” feel, but I’ve never seen a black female lead. (BTW: I’m not calling manhwa authors racist, I’m just saying we need more diversity. I doubt manhwa authors are activly trying to decrease diversity.)

Now, I’m not saying the have to incorporate an entire culture, I know for a fact I don’t because I’m scared to death I might do something offensive, but like, it doesnt mean much to just add more skin tones, yk?
I also think we should have more lgbtqia+ characters. :3

Fr tho, we need more diversity. I would especially love to see a black female lead.

So uh… manhwa authors, maybe try this :)

For modern day ones, you can find black female leads on WEBTOON, I don’t remember if they are manhwas though and also I think it’s because most historical manhwas are medieval European and people frequently assume that Black people/ dark skinned were universally enslaved or entirely absent from medieval and Renaissance Europe. It’s a common modern misconception heavily influencing how authors and artists make historical manhwa. Also be aware of the fact of beauty standards so that adds to it and if one wants to make a story they need references seeing as others made their characters light skin, they assume that’s natural like how the Duke of the north is cold but beautiful man and there’s a villainess for the heroine to meet her happy ending.

I AGREE?? also bro there are male x male couples but i’ve NEVER seen a female x female couple… or a manhwa where there isn’t romance.. WE NEED VARIETY lets get you on it to write one HAHA
