Something a random person said that changed my life
So like, I was something like.. 7 or 8 maybe, and I was at church. At church this lady was giving a talk or something (which I never listened too) but for some reason I listened to this one.
It was about forgiveness or something, and she told a real story. This girl was annoyed at her mom, and when her mom said “I love you” she just rolled her eyes and went “whatever mom” and left.
Her mom died later that day in a drunk driving accident. The girl was devastated that happened to her, and that “whatever mom” was the last thing she ever said to her mom. When she met the person who was ultimately responsible for her mom’s death she forgave them.
But the forgiveness isnt what stood out to me, it was how her mom was taken away from her and their last interaction was angry.
Ever since that, I have had so much strouble staying angry at a person, because I don’t want anger to be my last interaction I ever have with them. I make sure to never leave the house angry, and after listening to true crime, this need has become even more pressing.
Because no matter how unlikely it is, someone could be taken away from you in a second, and I never want the last thing I say to them to be something I regret.
Anyways, that’s my story of a stranger whose church talk changed my life, what about y’all? Has something a stranger said ever changed the way you looked at things significantly?
