The Cases That Have Changed Me
These cases have messed me up. But not because they’re super Gorey and stuff, because of the way they hit me emotionally
Disclaimer; A lot of this stuff is pretty sad and heavy, I’m just getting these out because these cases have quite literally changed the way I look at the world, and the value of human life, all of these have made a profound impact on me just from listening. The first two are the ones that have most changed me.
Mattew Shepard: a innocent man who was tortured and murdered just because he was gay. I’m not going to go into to many of the details because it’s on another level. I really can’t type it out without getting overly emotional.
The Watts Family Murders: A man that is really a monster, who murdered his pregnent wife and two baby girls, Bella (4) and Cece (2). A few months before this, Bella sung a song that was posted on the mother’s instagram called “Daddy you’re my hero” Hearing about this case genuinely made me cry. I also watched a documentary about it, with my parents, and I actually saw my dad cry, and that’s very rare.
Mr. Cruel: He’s a serial predator from Australia that has “only” commited one murder… but I saw a clip of the murdered girl’s mother begging for her to come home, and saying how she would trade her life for her daughters, and hearing the letters her little sister’s wrote, begging for her to be returned in the most childlike, innocent way, just DESTROYS ME.
Various Cases: There are too many cases for me to pick out just one, but for me, it’s cases where black and indegenous people, usually woman, have their cases entirely mishandled, ignored, and dismissed, solely because of the way they look. Black and indegionous people are much more likely to be murdered than a white person, but most famous cases are about white people getting murdered, and when I realized that it hit me very hard, because people should be remembered for who they are, not the way they looked.
The Green River Killer: I don’t know what it is about him that makes me hate him so much.. but I think it’s because he diregarded the lives of his victims so much, he doesn’t even remember their faces, much less their names, and he murdered so frequently, it’s like if I tried to recall off the spot how many comments I’ve made on this website. He does it so naturally and so easily, and doesn’t even remember where they are.
Elisa Lam: I’m going to make this one a whole seperate thread because this one haunts me in a different way.
Jack The Ripper; Okay, this one has stayed with me for two reasons. 1. This is one that actually is super Gorey and I do not recommend it to anyone who is not adept at hearing graphic descriptions of… a certain kind.. of gore. I’ll just put it at he literally draped one of his victims intestions on her shouler and that’s the one I’m actually willing to say out loud. But also, Jack the Ripper’s victims, are all woman who led MISERABLE lives, I literally listened to a eight hour podcast on Jack the Ripper, and his victims lived the most horrible lives to be met by the most horrible end. It’s just grim, and sad.
Richard Rameriez: The Nightstalker: Literally just made it so I go upstairs when I’m supposed to be sleeping, and I make sure my parents locked all the doors and windows 0u0
The Oklahoma Girl Scout Murders; Just a few little girls at a girl scout camp who end being viciously murdered, and the worst part is, the man who did it got aquitted. There wasn’t enough evidence, but now, years and years later, DNA technology has proven he was the one who did it. But now we will never get the chance to serve justice because that mf WAS AQUITTED (and he’s dead too O-o)
