Treatment of Death Row Inmates in European Ambient Manhwa

In the medieval era shown most of the comics and novels we read on Valir, if there's a woman who killed her father and fiance, would it be right to torture and torment her, treating her as if she were filth and beating her to leave scars and open wounds? To the point she even thinks herself that she deserves to be treated that way because she's a filthy criminal? Or should she just be kept until her execution date, with maybe some moderate beating but no torture?

I read some of the novel for Ebony on here and I thought I’d ask this because of how the female lead’s treated in prison because she'd killed her father and fiance.
